Death Toll From Italy Quake Rises to Twenty Thousand

Rome reports another earthquake hit the area around three o'clock worsening the disaster. Officials fear the death toll may reach twenty thousand as relief efforts struggle through blocked railways and damaged telecommunication lines. The cabinet allocated emergency funds and troops are being sent while engineers restore lines and roads to reach the injured.

Superintendent Wilson Exonerated by School Board

The board cleared Superintendent C. T Wilson of December charges though urged upgrades. A committee found a third of geographies in Miss King’s room in poor shape and recommended better texts and replacement of worn editions. Ice Trains Resume On Penny Lake Trade Rise

Ice traffic on Chautauqua Lake increases as the Penny company restarts operations. An initial train of sixteen cars reached Corry with a bigger shipment plan to follow. A daily forty car ice train will service the city, with twenty car consignments from two strings. Additional ice from Lake Champlain region heads south, while most product arrives via Philadelphia and points east on the P and B line.
