Local resident retires after 41 years with PRR

Heflecting on four decades of service, Perl Harmony 69 of 418 Second Avenue marks the end of a long era on the Buffalo division of the Pennsylvania Railroad. Nearly every freight movement on the north and southbound lines has passed under his hands during 47 years with the Pennsy. He is the second oldest on the division and joins William Heber of Oil City, a conductor on the Guy-Corry line, in retirement with more than 50 years. Harmony received a 40‑year pin recently and notes changes from wooden to steel cabooses and the universal adoption of air brakes since his youth in railroading. Official retirement date is February 1, but health issues have kept him from work since last June.

Harrisburg January 12 Jimmy Dick a nine year old from Hazleton Syber Ville area won the grand championship with his Aberdeen Angus steer Pet at the State Farm Show.
