UN truce negotiators pressed for a clear stand from the Communists on North Korean airfield construction during an armistice and received no satisfactory reply. Reports say the Allies may press for an oral pledge not to build or repair airfields, a move that could influence the final agreement on supervision. City officials wrestle with a surface water drainage rule tied to a planned sewage plant Harrisburg directives require new construction not to drain roof and surface water into the sanitary sewer. In Ismailia Egypt British Centurion tanks joined a heavy guerrilla attack on rail yard defenses near Tel El Kebir in the Suez Canal Zone. A Cameron Highlander was killed and three wounded by a mine while two Egyptians were captured as two companies of Coldstream Guards spearheaded the counterattack. The battle continued into the afternoon at the giant supply base where a supply train was targeted and its engineer possibly injured.
Corry Post Office reported a record year with receipts surpassing 1950’s $97,995 total by $1,070. Officials attribute the rise to a broad mailing demand and note that October parcel rate hikes contributed only a small part of the gain. They expect 1952 totals to exceed the current peak by thousands.
Kurt Aarlesen the 37 year old captain refused film and story rights offers totaling between 30 000 and 40 000 pounds for his saga of courage aboard the Flying Enterprise. He returns to sea after reporting the ship loss in the North Atlantic hurricane. He aims to rejoin his wife and two daughters and command another vessel. Hans Isbrandtsen says Aarlesen will get a new command. Insurance on the ship and cargo totals 1 200 000 with British insurers holding part. rebuilding cost exceeds five million dollars.
Reports indicate no criminal proceedings will follow two morals cases linked to the return of a local missing girl. The first case stems from a Fourth Ward home involving a year old girl and her mother’s decision not to prosecute. The second case, at Spring Creek, involved younger girl and was to be reported to Warren County authorities, but officials say the parents did not report the incident.
Paul Heasley named office manager for the Pennsylvania State Employment Service Corry Meadville office area. Heasley, a Navy veteran and longtime PSHS worker, will take charge at noon January 16 after McLone resigns from Aero Supply Mfg. Co. public relations post. Heasley plans to move to Corry with his wife and son in the spring.

Sittsburgh Jan 12 R B McWilliams 26 of Turtle Creek Union Railroad tramman was crushed to death between two cars at the Duquesne works of U S Steel Corp.

A report says an orange colored plane loomed over a residence on Spring Creek Spartansburg highway near Spring Creek and may have crashed to the south of the area. Mrs Duseyanter says the craft skimmed over a hill crest and vanished. District residents searched the area but no wreckage was found by early afternoon.
Searchers narrowed the search zone for the freighter Pennsylvania and its 45 crew after debris was spotted southeast of the vessel’s last known position.
