In Ismailia Egypt British Centurion tanks joined a heavy guerrilla attack on rail yard defenses near Tel El Kebir in the Suez Canal Zone. A Cameron Highlander was killed and three wounded by a mine while two Egyptians were captured as two companies of Coldstream Guards spearheaded the counterattack. The battle continued into the afternoon at the giant supply base where a supply train was targeted and its engineer possibly injured.

Post Office Sets Receipts Record for Corry Office

Corry Post Office reported a record year with receipts surpassing 1950’s $97,995 total by $1,070. No Prosecution Planned In Morals Cases

Reports indicate no criminal proceedings will follow two morals cases linked to the return of a local missing girl. Polio Funds Sought Through Mothers March Drive

Robert Wickwire, resident of 1215 North Center Street, longtime instructor at Lawrence Airport, heads to Cleveland to join Eastern Airlines as co pilot after passing rigorous Miami tests. He began flying in 1940 and has 11 years of professional experience. He will undergo four weeks of training before assignment on a flight.

Report of plane in trouble near city

A report says an orange colored plane loomed over a residence on Spring Creek Spartansburg highway near Spring Creek and may have crashed to the south of the area. Mrs Duseyanter says the craft skimmed over a hill crest and vanished. District residents searched the area but no wreckage was found by early afternoon.

Auto bus crash probe in city intersection

City police continued the investigation into a midday crash at North Genter and Smith streets at 12:25 pm.
