No Hope Of Drop In County Tax Erie County Budget

Erie county commissioners rejected trimming the 10 mill real estate tax despite a 1950 general fund surplus of 249 778. rising operating costs for the institution district require a half mill transfer, boosting expenses for about 250 patients and 400 county supported orphans. the 10 mill levy applies to 180 928 000 in real estate value for 1984, up from 144 759 000 last year, with the line kept to cover the district’s 10 percent cost rise. increased income and reduced expenditures in 1951 will allow bond repayment reductions of 70 000 May 1 1951 and 100 000 later.
