Elk County Court Adjourns Hearing In Dush Moore Case
The January term of Elk County Court adjourned due to illness in Judge Higple’s family. Trial of Commonwealth versus Ella Mae Dush and George Moore will resume next Monday at 2 PM. The Commonwealth has called nine witnesses with four more planned. Dush and Moore were involved in a November 4 1944 rail wreck near Ridgeway resulting in a train derailment and a death.

Red Star dispatches claim the Russians launched a new offensive in Poland. About 4,000 prisoners were taken in the last hours as German artillery dwindled and troops ran low on ammo. Reports say front lines were cut off from airborne supplies since early this week.

Services Held for Arthur F Crowe in Union City
Funeral services for Arthur F Crowe were conducted at St Matthew's Episcopal Church in Union City after a prayer service at the family home. Rev William G Woodward officiated with Rev Wilfred Crum assisting. Bearers included Tracy Montague William Crandall Crawford Guise Park Wolfe Martin Gooper and Harry Lyots. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery Union City. Members of Lodge No 368 PF&A.M. led the committal. A large gathering attended.
