Governor May Intervene In Pa Milk Hassle
Gov Lawrence said he may intervene in a dispute between the state Milk Control Commission and Country Belle Cooperative Farmers of Pittsburgh over gallon milk sales. The commission barred combining two half gallon containers for discount gallon packs. Country Belle challenged in Dauphin County Court, with Judge Lee Swope rejecting an effort to overturn the order. The issue affects western Pennsylvania except Erie. Philadelphia area also limits gallon sales to glass containers. Leaders agreed on redistricting of Pennsylvania’s 30 congressional seats into a swing district plan. Lawrence called the Republican plan a salamander.
