Saegerstown Man Fatally Struck By Truck On Route 77
Meadv ille Crawford County reports Stanley Irwin 50 of Saegertown died after stepping into the path of a 1948 Ford truck driven by Meno Besanson 29 of Saegertown on Route 77 east of Blooming Valley. Irwin suffered a broken neck and fractured skull. Besanson said he swerved but could not avoid the pedestrian. The coroner withheld verdict pending investigation. Road was reportedly slushy but not icy.

Last rites for Mrs. Ida N Taylor of Garland were held Saturday afternoon at Bracken Funeral Home with Rev. Paul F. Bader officiating. Interment followed in the Presbyterian Cemetery. Bearers included John Wojtowicz, Eugene Clancy, Arthur Kane, Richard Dahl, Raymond Tripp, and Burnell Holmes.
