Seventeen Corry residents are among 2,800 scheduled competitors for 150 State liquor control board jobs to be tested January 24 in nine cities. Of 4,789 applications, 1,950 were rejected for not meeting minimum qualifications. Top job is information editor or press agent paying at least 4200 a year. Mother and Daughter Slashed in Pittsburgh
In Pittsburgh on January 10, Mrs Myra W Archibald slashed her throat and injured her 10 year old daughter Etna before attempting suicide. Both were at Columbiana Hospital with the mother given an even chance of recovery. the child was threatened mainly by infection from a rusty razor. Husband Robert J Archibald, away in New York on business, was expected to arrive today. The motive cited was worry over his business affairs at the family residence in an exclusive district.
