Erie County budget work begins for 1931
County Controller Harvey M Willis started the 1931 budget process on Wednesday. Allan H McLean county commissioner said he would not oppose Willis while noting the county should fund the comfort station at Perry Square with a 10000 share next fall. The library fund request faded as Willis cited lack of funds. Budget completion expected within two weeks and sent to the commissioners for approval. M Howard returned home after a brief Erie business trip.

Dunkirk Youth Is Acquitted In Robbery Case
Dunkirk 22 year old Anthony Chylaszek was acquitted by a County Court jury of first‑degree robbery at the Central Garage in Dunkirk on November 22. The jury deliberated briefly and the defense faced vigorous cross‑examination by District Attorney Glenn W. Woodin. Chylaszek claimed an alibi he was at a Buffalo restaurant during the robbery. Rusbuldt identified him as the man who held him up at gunpoint and robbed the cash box. The defense argued the state’s case relied on a disputed statement and third‑degree pressure. Burial arrangements and memorial services were noted for local resident Charles A. Anderson in Jamestown.
