Ford energy plan hinges on personal sacrifice amid recession
Treasury Secretary William E. Simon said President Ford’s energy conservation plan will require a degree of personal sacrifice by all Americans. Greenspan warned unemployment may not drop significantly in 1976, with jobless rate around 7.1 percent, possibly higher. The plan, to be announced Jan 20, aims to curb inflation and fight the recession without fuel rationing, possibly through higher oil prices and tax rebates.
