Associated Press dispatch from Eugene Oregon reports the Willamette River flood crest moving downstream, threatening rich farmland and towns in the Willamette Valley. Thousands depend on relief agencies as lowlands flood. Red Cross evacuations, Army Engineers guidance, and Coast Guard readiness mark a broad emergency response ahead of expected crest between Salem Corvallis Albany and surrounding areas.
Cory R. D. 4 resident is held for a hearing before Al Aoemai Tustin Butters at 6 30 on charges of aggravated assault and battery with intent to kill. Clyde Valk R D 4 Corry is also charged after wife Gladys testified he assaulted her December 31 and threatened with a shotgun the next day. He was arrested at police barracks and taken to city prison for arraignment. Radio pioneer Frank Ui 70 and Dr Lee De Forest associate were credited with early broadcasting efforts in Toledo.

The cases arise from Meyers’s private wartime activities and alleged deception of the Senate war investigations committee.
Harold Huss brouck retires from Hus brouck Cash Grocery on Concord Street. His son Allen Huss brouck, with uncle Marie Maley, will continue the business for the past 10 years. New owners add refrigerated meat display and frozen foods. Mary Wareth Maley and daughter Mary Wareth Maley to carry on legacy. James J. Maley, 104, died today in Log Haven.
A morning fire in Greenville wipes out four two story brick business buildings on Mali Street, with the U S Store and George Dale shoe shop among major losses. Firefighters battled for four hours before flames spread, causing multiple fatalities and leaving several homeless. The blaze was suspected to have started in the rug and linoleum department of Keck’s basement.
Savannah Georgia report says 15 people died and nine were injured when an American Airlines flight from Puerto Rico crashed into a wind during approach to Wilmington Island Airport. The plane carried 29 Puerto Rican passengers and a two crew. The Civil Aviation Authority described the craft pancaking in a marsh near the Savannah River and breaking apart. спас
