Salvation Army Opens Two Week Siege Campaign
Captain Smith to launch a two weeks siege meeting series in the local Salvation Army unit starting tomorrow night. Lantern slides will illustrate the organization’s work as members learn the full range of Armory activities. The program runs through February 8 with a campaign of education on Army work.

Flood relief group formed in Austin to seek state aid
At a meeting of flood sufferers from Austin and Costello a permanent organization was created to secure legislative relief from the incoming state legislature for damages caused by the Haylews Pulp and Paper Company dam breach on Sept 30 1911. Officers were elected and a bill introduction urged, with total relief funds reported as 627,800.00 and direct aid under 50,000 distributed, plus a pamphlet cost of 220 and 76 postage. The state police assisted in debris removal and the November restitution to the public tally showed 11,128.254 returned.
