Police Review Statements Of 125 Erie Murder Suspects
Erie investigators continue probing the Eleanor Free silk stocking murder as detectives sift statements from more than 125 people. District Attorney Herbert J. Johnson Jr and Deputy Chief Chester J. Miller say the two inch thick police history file is being reviewed. Names of all questioned remain confidential except James Free and Cliff Erle. No lie detector test date is set, but tests are planned for about three additional persons. Mrs. Free, 39, was found gagged and bound in her bedroom after neighbors grew concerned over her absence. Coroner Merle Wood says she may have died three to six days before discovery.
