Comet Kohoutek Brightness Seen By Philadelphia Expert
Philadelphia AP report says Comet Kohoutek will be naked eye visible starting Saturday and may rival Halley in mid month. George Hamilton of Fels Planetarium notes it will pass about 7 million miles from Earth in two weeks with a long tail, best seen after sunset in the southwest near Venus as twilight fades. Skylab footage shows the tail orange with yellow hues from dust, and brightness should rise toward the Moon’s level as it nears Earth.
