State seeks to recover money from fired official

Harrisburg AP reports the state aims to reclaim more than 1400 in living expense payments made to James S. Cozens, former assistant enforcement director in the Traffic Safety Bureau, who resigned after missing 39 traffic conviction reports and a related shakeup led by Traffic Safety Commissioner Brainerd and Revenue Secretary Smith. The Harrisburg Sunday Patriot-News notes Cozens claimed 4374.35 in hotel and meal expenses since January 1968, with 1418.25 deemed not legitimately owed after promotion in May 1964. Ingram says a 14.10 amount is valid for travel logged, while a review will determine other legitimate entitlements and the matter will be referred to the Justice Department for collection.
