Erie Loses Round In Case Over Huge Sum

In Common Pleas Court Judge Burton Taub ruled against Erie in a dispute over housing project funds held since 1950 by the city Housing Authority. Judge Laub suggested the heirs may not be entitled to all profits but granted an accounting of rents and profits to determine if they apply to back taxes. The case, pursued by Downing estate heirs represented by Security Pal Trust Co., seeks redemption of land and shares of profits from an estimated 170000 dollar fund, with the city already allocating 40000 to the 1954 budget.
