Fire Destroys Calvi Electric Co in Atlantic City
A general alarm fire leveled the Calvi Electric Co building and equipment in Atlantic City New Jersey causing about 250000 in damage. Authorities said the Italian Social Center next door sparked the blaze which spread to offices and adjoining warehouse. Firefighters took two hours to control the fire evacuating about 50 residents with no injuries reported. Owner Frank Calvi put losses at 150000 for building and materials and 100000 for equipment, noting fourteen company trucks were destroyed.

Parachute Fails In Practice Jump Kills Navy Man
Edward H. Force, 20, of Grassflat Pennsylvania, a Navy petty officer and parachute rigger, died after his chute failed to open during a three man practice jump from a civilian plane. Navy officials were unsure if Force had rigged his chute for the flight.
