Park Hotel Blaze Leaves City Center In Ruins
A basement explosion sparked a six story fire in Franklin destroying the Park hotel and driving nearly 100 residents into the street. Fire crews kept flames from nearby property, rescue efforts saved a 75 year old woman, and the Harmony bus terminal on the first floor burned out. The blaze, Franklin’s largest since 1915, caused property losses estimated over 900000 with many valuables lost.

Charles T. Davis, a 70 year old North East fruit farmer and father in law of former Katherine Powers, was killed on Sunday when an eastbound Greyhound struck him on a highway near North East. Davis, walking on the left side, was hit as a slight hill limited the driver’s view. his glasses and watch lay 44 feet away. State Motor Police investigated with witnesses sought aboard the bus. Funeral services are planned for Wednesday at 2 o'clock at Wilson Funeral Home in North East.

Collision on West Pleasant Street Leaves Two Damaged
Early Saturday morning in Corry two cars collided on West Pleasant Street near Second Avenue. Clarene Cumar drove a Plymouth toward the west and struck a Ford roadster owned by Leonard Miglo. The parked Ford was facing east on Pleasant Street near the Pinch block. The impact sent the Plymouth across the road and into the Ford, causing extensive damage to both vehicles. Police were surveying the scene as of today.
