Woman Attacked After Accepting Ride Stranded Barefoot
A 64 year old woman, Mrs Nette Safford, was beaten, robbed and dumped from a car by a stranger after agreeing to a ride from a North Union Street tavern. She crawled half a mile to report to Trooper Frank A Easton at the state police. Injuries included facial contusions and possible cheek fracture. The assailant, now being sought, reportedly later drove her back to her home showing remorse.

Bethesda Home founder Ralph Yeany dies of heart attack
Rev. Ralph W. Yeany founder of the Bethesda Home for Children in Meadville died after a heart attack while seated at his car wheel. Funeral services set for 2 p.m. Friday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church Millvale with burial in church cemetery. A Allegheny College graduate, he and his wife started the orphanage in 1920 growing to four buildings housing about 1,000 children during expansion. Survived by widow son John Yeany Norrisville daughter Elizabeth and several siblings.
