Erie County Budget Sees 1.6 Mills Cut Possible
Erie county commissioners can shave 1.6 mills off the 1950 tax rate and still cover expenses. The proposed budget shows a net surplus of about 250000, with 374000 in the general fund and a 331185 reserve in the county sideline fund. The plan anticipates capital reserve funding for future projects while maintaining year to year taxation. Also reported, about 200 fishermen were marooned when a 26 mile per hour wind broke up an ice pack near Buffalo prompting Coast Guard rescue efforts.
