Two men Rodney Chesney 42 and Ronald Bartell 24 were questioned and booked on burglary.
North Vietnam reportedly favors Thant plan to negotiate an end to the war but the United States demands concrete evidence Hanoi will halt arms into the South before talks. U N sources say Thant shared proposals with major powers two weeks earlier aimed at resuming a Geneva-style conference. Secretary Rusk says no peace talks until North Vietnam stops aggression and reinforcements, stressing U S readiness to act to aid South Vietnam. Continued on Page Six.
Mrs. Alice Brown of 1001 North Center street joins the Corry school board race as the third GOP candidate. She joins Dale Webster as new entries replacing Lyle Chase and Dr. R. Bruce Summerville. Incumbent Dr. John Mohr is also a potential GOP-backed director.
A severe wintry blast snarled roads from the Midwest to the East Coast. A Standard Chair Co tractor trailer jackknifed on East Colts Bus Avenue, blocking the road and causing gas leaks. Driver Raymond G. Whitney was treated for arm and rib injuries. Police and fire crews responded to manage spills and traffic. Continued on Page Six.
Boyd F. Jaynes was charged with the February murder of Myrtle Ball 54 of Erie after a bloodstained suitcoat clue and multiple witnesses placed him with Ball the night of February 15 Her body was found at St Marks Seminary and she died at St Vincent's Hospital Police say the coat traced to Jaynes and a coroner ruled the death a homicide The arraignment and hearing were scheduled with counsel appointed for Jaynes in Erie County court.
Vern Keithline, 41, of Bear Lake, pled guilty in Chautauqua County to two traffic violations. Before Peace Justice Edwin P. Seaton in Mayville he chose a $50 fine or 50 days on an unregistered vehicle charge and $25 or 25 days on an unsupervised learner's charge. Arrested on Route 17 by Deputy James B. Newberry.
Nine year old Walter Wealey Buller left Andrews Texas to walk home to his mother. A truck driver offered him a ride but he refused. By sundown he was about halfway there in cold wind and exposure. Rescue efforts found him dead near Highway 302.
Erie County commissioners study suggests shifting from 32 to 37 hours weekly. The Moon team finds some workers underpaid and others overpaid while proposing starting salaries of 2640 for a longer week. Final preliminary report due to commissioners soon.

Harry Adams 33 Wattsburg was stalled, Jerry Burek 21 Union City RD 2 assisted, Gary Johnson unidentified driver rear ended Adams, Johnson taken to Union City Memorial Hospital, total damage about 50 dollars.
Violent winter storms sweep the eastern half of the nation with gale winds up to 55 mph and heavy precipitation. Deaths attributed to the storm total at least 90 with many from shoveling and traffic accidents.
