Money Skidding Ends as Dollar Stabilizes Says Chamber
The Chamber of Commerce reports the dollar’s purchasing power has steadied after a 27.6 point rise in the cost of living index from 1946 to 1951. From May 1953 to May this year the gain was only two points. Price controls were abandoned in February 1953, yet inflation fears did not materialize as defense spending leveled and a sound money policy prevailed.

Third Atomic Blast Delayed By Weather At Yucca Flat
LAS VEGAS NEV The third and perhaps most potent blast of the 1955 atomic test series was called off last night due to adverse weather. Preparations for the 500 foot tower blast at Yucca Flat went ahead for 5 35 am but cloud and wind conditions worsened. The shot, set to begin the series February 15, was expected to yield about 50 kilotons. A weather briefing was planned to assess firing tomorrow. The AEC labeled it a major Livermore California laboratory effort amid speculation it could be an improved hydrogen weapon trigger. Livermore specialists note no hydrogen weapons are tested there. The thermonuclear H bomb requires an initial atomic trigger.
