Medicare Lists Pennsylvania Doctors Paid Over Fifty Thousand
A federal release names 174 physicians groups and firms in Pennsylvania who received more than 50 000 each from Medicare in 1974 for elderly care. The largest payout 1.54 million went to a radiology team at Philadelphia’s Albert Einstein Medical Center. Names of many individual physicians were blocked by law. The report notes Medicare paid 150.3 million to over 1,500 Pennsylvania physicians via Blue Shield and that 44 percent earned more than 25,000. The Einstein group includes 25 radiologists and a 200 member staff.
