Section Four Tourney Highlights and Close of Cheerful Officials
Oil City hosted a smooth Section Four wrestling tournament directed by Robert Mulvin and Blair Hildebrand with top officiating and energetic crowds. Paul Cathcart of Eisenhower won the 127 pound title in a tight final against Roger Slocum, while ninth seed Jeff Judson upset Jerry Stralko at 10 pounds. Eight Beaver wrestlers earned Section titles historically, and Corry's three finalists marked a district feat not seen since 1960-61. A new three-official system debuted at finals to improve safety and calls, praised by observers as a positive move.
