Data Gathering For City Plan Half Finished

Corry city planning data collection is about 50 percent complete. Reed J. Dunn of Michael Baker says studies focus on utilities schools and recreation with spring or summer work planned on streets highways and parking. Snow cover delays parking analysis. Dunn met with City Councilman Ray Weber and Corry Ministerial Association to update on the program. The commission accepted the ill health resignation of Clarence Wallace and urged public nominations for replacement. Dr. John Mohr noted Corry residents should submit candidates to City Council. Union and management meet in effort to end Stackpole strike

At Stackpole Carbon Co plants in MARYS and nearby towns, union Local 502 and company representatives spent ten hours in renewed talks aimed at settling a 2000 member strike that began February 1. Seniority job classifications and working rules remain the main sticking points with no further sessions scheduled.

Boy Saved From Icebox Death

Ronnie Allgayer, 4, was found nude and near death after two hours in a refrigerator. He told his mother he and a playmate used it for a bath, then the door was slammed. He was revived at City-County Hospital with no apparent lasting injuries. County May Return Bemis From Texas

Erie County may pursue extradition proceedings to bring Bemis back from Texas after he failed to appear for the February criminal court term. Bemis faces at least five counts of fraud, forgery, and false conversion, and was reportedly jailed in Brownsville, Texas on a car theft charge after being picked up in Tennessee. Assistant DA Wayne Gleeten said extradition through the Texas city is possible but requires DA Herbert Johnson Jr. approval after consultation.
