County Health Unit Seeks Office Space and Director

Erie County Health Board plans early next week to consider two offers for temporary county health unit offices. A director search will follow, with Felix Shubert unlikely for the post. The board has received many applications, some handled by Paul Crossman away in Florida, and will choose a site between two options. The 1956 budget deadline is March 2 with a rough $60,000 figure already set by the county commissioners.

Erie Cash Balance Jump Prompts Administrative Survey

City cash balance for 1955 stands at about 29000, well above the 10400 forecast in the 1956 budget. City Controller Arthur E. Gehrler notes the excess will fund a 7000 survey, with a 27000 ordinance awaiting final approval by the council on Friday as objections at Clay Hall arise. A spokesman says the survey will compare potential city revenue sources with those in other cities, though critics argue it adds little new information.
