Bitter Arctic cold grips nation with snow and floods
Montana and Minnesota endured a seventh day of subzero readings as deep snow and winds up to 50 mph snarled travel from the Mohawk Valley to Albany. Snow paralyzed sections of the Schuylkill Expressway as hundreds of cars were abandoned. Subfreezing warmth and heavy rivers triggered flooding along the Mississippi at Davenport, Iowa, while hazardous driving shut roads across the Midwest.
