Discharge eligibility announced for Cpl Kafferlin in Japan
Cpl William Kafferlin son of Mr and Mrs Paul Kafferlin Spring Creek Pa is declared eligible for discharge by Major General H P Kramer commander of the 7th Infantry Division the only division redeployed from Europe to Japan He was inducted February 1944 and served with the 44th Infantry Division and as an ASTP student at South Dakota State College before joining the 67th Infantry Division in May He earned the Combat Infantryman Badge as a gunner with Cannon Company 86th Infantry Regiment during campaigns in the German Rhine pocket and Czechoslovakia.
