Corry Area Joint School Committee met in a special session at the Library Building to set standards for buying thousands of dollars in equipment for the new Corry Area High School. Superintendent L M Douglas said bids will follow specifications, while the Corry Area Schools Authority plans to open bids on shop equipment next Tuesday evening in the Junior High gym. The Authority will not assemble at 4 o'clock and will later dine at the Hotel Corry before a 7:30 p m meeting to approve bills and contract changes. The session at 5 o'clock is open to the public.

A jury of eight men and four women sentenced Magee to life imprisonment for first degree murder in the death of George Harrington. The six and a half hour deliberation ended with Magee’s conviction at 10 16 PM. Magee’s wife Beverly expressed relief as the verdict was announced and Magee was taken to county jail. Attorney Edward G. Petrillo Jr. indicated there will be no appeal.
Democrats in Congress rally around a plan to raise personal exemptions from 2600 to 800 this year and to 1000 next year. Senator George says the measure would aid large families and low income earners and would not net lose 4% billion in revenue this year by offsetting steps in the House tax revision bill.
George Orcutt announced the campaign aims to raise 8200 for the Corry Chapter of the American Red Cross. Division chairmen directing various phases include Leo Al commercial Stewart Long industrial J Needham clubs and organisations Harry Hall banks and utilities Robert Ott Jr advance gifts and many others across wards townships and local organizations. The effort includes window displays and a canvass to reach all city areas, with plans to begin next week and continue until calls are completed.

Leyemrevemme AUTOONA Pennsylvania officials awaited emergency equipment from Pittsburgh and Philadelphia to lay a 10,000 foot pipeline. The line connects a high ground reservoir to a lower one nearly dry to supply residents amid a severe drought. About 80 tons of pipe and pumps were in civil defense stockpiles as the city prepared a water emergency.
Secretary of State Dulles says the United States achieved a diplomatic victory by arranging a peace conference in Geneva to discuss Asia. He states the conference will include Russia and Red China and will begin April 26, while stressing the US will not recognize Red China or admit it to the United Nations. Dulles faces congressional questions and will press that the agreement does not absolve Russia of guilt in Korea and Indochina.
A former Corry man and former patrolman, Robert Guth, was returned to Corry after Cleveland authorities declared him an amnesia victim. He recalled only arriving in Cleveland near the Greyhound Bus Terminal with a headache, and police could not verify his identity until his photo ran in Cleveland papers. Guth has ties to Corry and had worked as a patrolman about four years ago.
