Police report multiple incidents from Corry and nearby Erie including a pedestrian and vehicle traffic stop at North Center and Washington, a left turn collision on West Washington, a missing person case resolved via a California call, a hospitalization after a wheelbarrow fall, a student death in Oakland, and a fluoridation discussion to air on WJTN Jamestown.
A Union City driver collided with another car at a street intersection after allegedly driving the wrong way on a one way street. Roel Frank Lin, 50, of Delon City, faced a charge. Damage totaled about $380 to the Franklin car and $150 to the Saloum car. Police filed the charge with Magistrate M. S. Cobbett. A drunk charge led to the arrest of Daniel T. Mareer, 18, of Leechburg, Pa., who pleaded guilty and was fined. Coroner Merle Wood ruled Homer E. Thayer’s death accidental due to skull fracture and internal injuries after a moving work car crushed him. Mrs. Leon Davids Jr. reported finding a $20 bill and turned it to police. the owner identified the bill.
The Allies insist on safety notification rules for Berlin corridor flights linking Berlin with Frankfurt Hamburg and Trathover while charging Soviet attempts to block bookings. They cite Soviet jet incursions last week as proof of the need to enforce the 17 year old safety regime. East Germany accuses the West of abusing the routes which they say were meant for Allied military use only. In Cincinnati negotiations the Pittsburgh Plais and United Glass Workers Union approve a new contract with a 12 cent per hour pay increase over two years.
About 13,000 workers at PPG’s slang division reach a new contract one day after the previous aid pact expired. The intense session ended shortly before midnight as the parties sealed terms to cover the period ahead.
