Daily Still Optimistic For Minor Leagues In Tri-State
Daily, head of the Penn State League, remains hopeful about summer minor league baseball in the Tri-State area. Oil City and Washington clubs cited 1983 operating issues, while a broader Penn State and Middle Atlantic Leagues meeting in Pittsburgh will decide if the year proceeds. Daily advocates merging the two leagues rather than ending baseball. Don Budge, once tennis king, has enlisted in the Army after Joe DiMaggio and before further orders.
