In Lewistown Barnett 85 of R D 1 Julian Centre County was killed when his car left Route 220 and overturned. Police said Barnett was alone. The governor said lobbyists as a group vary with some being good or bad and long favored registration of all lobbyists.

Witnesses testified as the Army continued its case against Sgt. William H. Olson at Fort Bragg North Carolina He is charged with conspiring with the enemy and with informing on four Marine sergeants during a wartime incident Olson a 20 year Army veteran aged 40 faces serious accusations and further proceedings were held in the ongoing trial.
In a testimony yesterday M Sgt Chester Mathis of Santa Ana California condemned a prisoner for acts including bearing captivity in North Korea delivering a speech derogatory to the United States writing a surrender leaflet producing pro Communist newspaper articles for publication making propaganda recordings and informing on fellow prisoners Mathis stated I despise him.
Gov. George M. Leader voiced support for a Senate plan to require lobbyists at the State Capitol to register and report income and expenditures. Sen. Elmer J. Holland has long sponsored such bills, with Sen. William J. Lane co sponsoring this year. The aim is not to bar lobbyists but to increase filing transparency.
A fall of slate at Crucible Steel Co. mine near Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, killed 42 year old John Galin yosky, a Crucible employee since May 1928. No further details available.
