Burglar Shot To Death In Fayette County Inn
A 25 year old Fayette County man was shot to death during an attempted burglary at the Red Lion Inn three miles south of Fayette City. James Lewis Spohn of Republic was identified by Coroner Harold McCrory. He was shot in the neck, arm and leg by a .32 caliber revolver after being surprised by proprietor William Shambaugh who slept in a basement apartment. Spohn gained entry through a window.
