Boy Eats Poison in Florence Poisoning Incident
An eight year old boy in Florence is in critical condition after eating a hot dog treated with deadly poison. Police found two other poisoned hot dogs in the same block as residents warned children to stay indoors. Authorities suspect a passerby attempted to kill neighborhood dogs by tossing the tainted wiener onto Larry Mathews's porch. Dr J Bruce says the meat contained at least five grains of strychnine and notes that a fifth of a grain can kill an adult. Larry's grandmother Cindy Mathews administered milk to the boy to slow convulsions, likely saving his life.
