Schwartz Names Erie Inspector In bribery trial
In a second bribery trial defense, Stanley M. Schwartz portrayed ex-police Inspector Jack Martin as controlling political collections from Erie gamblers. He testified he did not know the source of former Mayor Flatley’s campaign contributions until 1951. He said Martin produced a contributor list after 1951 and claimed no interest in it. Schwartz asserted Martin controlled the split among Martin, Flatley and Schwartz and arranged payments to Democratic leader Henry Soscha. Judge Rossiter overruled the motion to dismiss.
