Lesler Leads Democratic Push for State Constitution Convention
Harrisburg AP says Senate contests three bills to authorize a constitutional convention to rewrite the 94 year old charter. Democratic measures would allow public vote in May primary, delegate selection in September, convention in 1968, and wind up Feb 1, 1929, with delegates from congressional districts and lobbyist registration. Republican plan tightens limits. Sen. William G. Lesler sponsors the bill with 16 others.

Man Killed as Steel Sheeting Crashes at Romer Plant
A 29 year old Farrell man Francis Loop was crushed to death when tons of stainless steel sheeting toppled at Sharon Steel Co Romer plant in Farrell shortly after 3 pm. Fredonian Charles Brocklehurst suffered a broken foot and was treated at Greenville Hospital where his condition was listed as satisfactory. Mercer County coroner John Mohney ruled the death accidental, citing a crushed chest as the cause.
