In Tokyo on February 4 Gen Matthew Ridgway and Vice Admiral Turner Joy, UN armistice negotiators, met with two Washington officials to discuss the Korean truce talks. John Hull and Alexis Johnson arrived, and Hull said no new instructions from Washington were given regarding the truce tallies.

A 15 year old girl, Mariene Mosteller, was struck and killed by an automobile shortly after alighting from a school bus on Route 43, about four miles north of Somerset, Pennsylvania, near her home.
An Associated Press report from Elizabeth New Jersey says National Airlines flight 3 was downed after propeller trouble on the right engines caused loss of power and possible loss of control. CAB chief investigator Fleet noted reverse blade position and prior deactivation of propeller reversing features as precautionary measures by the airline.
President Truman salutes Michael V. DiSalle as he leaves the price administrator post after 14 months. DiSalle returns to Ohio to campaign for the Democratic senatorial nomination, aiming to run against Senator John W. Bricker in November if he wins.
