Sgt. Thur W Moir 27 of Corry Pa, a B 17 turret gunner with the Eighth Air Force stationed in England, is awarded the Air Medal for valor during heavy bombardment missions over Nazi Germany. Presentation by Major John W Hammett. son of Mr and Mrs D F Mitchell of Corry. Moir’s wife, Katherine Russell, resides in Corry. Previously employed by Raymond Manufacturing Co. before enlisting January 1944. The 4th Bomber Group, 401st Bomb Group unit of the Third Air Division, took part in the England Africa shuttle bombing of the Messerschmitt factories at Regensburg in August 1943.
