An application for marriage licenses was led at Erie by Joan E Madison and Elisabeth Taylor of Corry Frank G Wojtecki and Ales J Anderson of Upton City Wisconsin. Bridges and streets were ice coated after a warm spell, hindering pedestrians.
In Erie a 70 year old North East man, Jesse McQudy, was tried for attempted incest and received a five year penitentiary term. Several defendants pled guilty to violent crimes while three were discharged. Court proceedings proceeded swiftly with many pleas, as District Attorney Laub indicated the session would close that day.
The American Legion plans a voluntary nationwide registration of World War veterans, announced by Commander Lester Lopus at Elmer C. Carrier Post 368. James P. Sullivan will lead the February 22 enrollment at the post home, to create a national index of veteran qualifications for potential defense work.
Oscar Manges of 162 Fast Congress street died last night at St Francis hospital Pittsburgh after a plant accident injury. Born May 25 1903 at Carter Hill he lived near Corry all his life. Survived by wife Doris daughter Luella and son Carl, parents Mottroe and Mrs Manges, brother Ye o Manges and sister Mrs Harold Sweet. Funeral arrangements incomplete.
