The grand jury urges building a work house to house county prisoners as the current jail is crowded. It endorses using county funds and state aid for hard surfaced roads and improved sidewalks, and calls for immediate road and bridge work along with county improvements aligned with ongoing county reforms.
Franklin reports the worst gas situation in memory with no relief in sight. United Natural Gas orders all manufacturing plants to close Sunday night through Monday. Four men were seriously injured when an elevator platform at Phillips home in Venturetown collapsed while workers prepared for harvest. Injured were Zack Stusvost Morse Crocker Jameson and Donald Phillips, all living in Venturetown or North Warren except Phelps of Market Street Warren. They were attended by Dr. Durham and were improving.
