MutHMOND Va API Alexandria completes plans today for integration of three public schools in Alexandria. Tuesday the northern Virginia city will become the state s third locality within eight days to admit Negro children to previously all white classrooms. State and local officials hope nine Negro children can enter Alexandria schools as peacefully as 21 Negroes did in Norfolk and Arlington last week.

Washington AP reports Rep. Leon Gavin pledges to press for rapid construction of the Kinmu a flood control dam in Pennsylvania with a 13 million dollar price tag. Cuban Executions Mount To 289
In Havana an official count shows executions rising to 289 with the firing squad death of a former army captain in Santa Clara Las Villas. Fidel Castro and Manuel Urrutia arranged a funeral service at Havana cemetery for 19 who joined the 1956 revolution. Bodies were brought from Oriente for the rites.

H Wheeler Dies At 62 at Raymond plant official
H Wheeler, longtime Raymond Plant personnel director, died at Hamot Hospital after an extended illness. He was 62 and retired from the local plant in 1958 before moving to Erie. A Corry native, he served in World War I and held numerous civic posts including American Legion commander and Crawford County and district Legion leadership. Burial will be in Linesville Cemetery with services at Houghton Funeral Home. He left no survivors.

Arthur Hawkins of Erie was fined 34 dollars after police say he hauled rubbish from several Erie gas stations and dumped it on Archie Richardson’s farm near Elgin. Corry State Police investigated after Richardson filed a complaint Friday evening. Hawkins paid 25 dollars plus 9 dollars costs and was released.

Meadville officials praised Army Engineers after 60 members of the 19th Engineer Battalion cleared a dangerous ice gorge on Preach Creek near Meadville and Cochranton. Using 12 tons of TNT and dynamite over four thousand man hours, they opened a one mile gorge and a 25 foot wide channel, reducing creek levels by over three feet and ending the immediate flood threat.
