A 1946 bill sponsored by Rep Javits would provide a federal ballot for armed services personnel stationed outside their states. It would allow write-in votes for president and vice president, with party labels for senator and representative, and enable officials to supply candidate data to service voters.
Erie February sentences six defendants in county court before President Judge Elmer L. Evans. Allen Frank Foster of North East and Francis Lee Barnhart of North East RD 4 received two year parole terms after pleading guilty to larceny, with Foster also charged with burglary. Each fined 50 dollars plus costs and restitution. Jack Joseph Seifert of Erie pleaded guilty to armed robbery and burglary, sentence suspended until next bep.
Judge Evans reports a string of cases on January 8. Seifert detained Up Jimmy's Diner in Erie and burglarized the N. W. Smith Building in Erle. Orlé M. Peters of Mis Village for drunken conduct fined 75 dollars. Harry F. Nowling of Erle guilty of drunken driving fined 100 dollars and two days. Robert B. Kuhn of Chicago charged with nonsupport for wife Rebecca Kuhn and two children posted 300 dollar compliance bond and costs. The jellyfish sting note ends the piece.
