Erie man Kohlthepp did not die from fight injuries
A Erie coroner's jury found that John Kohlthepp, 71, died in Hamot hospital on January 30 from cerebral apoplexy linked to high blood pressure and arteriosclerosis, not from injuries sustained during an attack by Tony Okonski, 24, or related robbery charges. Doctors testified Kohlthepp arrived with hypertension and later worsened. A coroner's inquest concluded the death was due to natural conditions aggravated by injury, not homicide.
