Three Corry residents and neighbors were drawn for jury service at the Erie civil court term opening March 7. Sheriff Kuppler and Duty Commissioners Wagner and Leary selected 100 jurors. Corry jurors include Bruce A. Smith Mabel Akum and Cora Rourke. eastern county jurors include John J. Burger Merle S. Clark Ray Sooner and Franke Kennedy.
Warren Y Ledder will speak at the annual YMCA dinner Monday February 14 at 615 p.m. in the Lutheran Church. The program includes H W Wiseman and local Y staff presenting activities. Invitations mailed. those without invites may call D A Aillstrom or C M Hengst to attend.
Erie February 7 War veterans press council over adherence to state civil service laws for veterans appointments. Delegation of 22 men from 12 organizations, led by Harold Mook, met four of five council members to urge compliance and challenge the current policy cited by Mayor Barber and city solicitor.
In Greenville Pennsylvania a 78 year old invalid died in a house fire Saturday night. The victim had suffered a stroke weeks earlier and could not escape. Relatives were away shopping nearby when the blaze started. Neighbors Bylar and Paul Sheppard first spotted the fire but could not reach him. Mercer County authorities opened an investigation led by William A. Applegate.
