One-Mill Decrease in Elk County Taxes
Ridgway February 6. At the 4 meeting of Elk County commissioners a reduction of one mill on the 1993 county taxes was approved. The assessment will be 7 mills this year, equating to 10 cents per $100 of assessed valuation. On the million dollar assessment the county tax return will be $10,000 less this year. The cut stems from road construction curtailment and rights of way damages from failed roads, with most road work complete. Decreased court costs also contributed to the lower assessment.
