Washington Feb 5 1944 The Senate recesses after only 48 of 96 voting members and delays action on service vote legislation. Seventeen Carry men were moved to a ground in the Carry Union City east district who qualified for service during pre-induction examinations at the Briecen Wer westerray. Five of the Carry men are booked for naval review and twelve will go into the Army. From the eile district, May York bus ag mon, the Army accepted 36. Under the new pre-induction plan the qualified men are placed in a reserve pool awaiting local draft board call for the next actual service demand. Corry Jamestown Mfg Corp calls for twenty additional workers to be trained in various departments now aiding war production. Production head A E B Rehnborg said demand has surged in recent weeks and a second group will follow after the first is absorbed. Camp notes indicate further hiring planned to sustain output.

Posthumous Silver Star honors go to Private First Class Orville M Street, first Corry boy to die in the war after the Pearl Harbor attack. Parents Mr and Mrs Roy Street receive the decoration in a formal ceremony arranged by Lt. Col Harold Kraft. The citation, dated March 14 1942, notes gallantry in action during the attack on the Philippines and at Pearl Harbor.
