Solar energy mystery may be solved by Meinels device
Two Arizona scientists Dr Aden Meinel and his wife Marjorie report a solar energy converter under development with a 25 000 grant. The device focuses sunlight to heat a stainless steel pipe to about 1000 degrees using thin films and special lenses. A demonstration plant could come within five years at a cost higher than conventional plants but with no fuel costs or pollution.
