The reshuffle moves Franklin to T C Frame Clearfield and others to new posts while demoting former district engineers to subordinate roles in a shakeup.
Ronald Nichols of 315 William Street Corry was arrested at Panama on an open charge by New York state troopers. Details remain unavailable as troopers from Bearus Point and other offices were summoned to Jamestown and Warren on business.
Three Elkhorn High School basketball players Jobson Petersen Jethro Petersen and Raymond Sumner and driver Burt Christensen were killed in a foggy vehicle collision on the way to a game in Harlan Iowa. Melvin Petargen suffered multiple fractures. Authorities blamed dense fog for the crash.

Rankilin Pa Feb 2 The Allegheny River rose to 10.6 feet as freezing weather solidified the Luge ice pack, with flood stage at 14 feet possible. The ice jam extended to the city and threatened lower streets while movement slowed. Smaller packs formed upstream.
