Daughter shoots father in Johnsonburg home

McAlee Howe died yesterday at his sister's Johnsonburg home after a gunshot wound inflicted by his daughter Susie McAlee. An inquest found the bullet caused his death. Susie McAlee, held in Ridgway, faces court action as authorities prepare for a hearing. McAlee had previously been acquitted on an assault charge in Elk County.

Mad dog prowls Crawford County feared menace

A rabid fox or mad dog is reported roaming in Crawford County. Farmers have seen the animal at Watton’s Run and other farms, biting livestock including a valuable brood sow that had to be killed.
