The plan for the Oil Creek Watershed project envisions constructing six facilities as part of its proposed development. Officials say the move aims to expand recreational spaces while improving watershed management.
AFL CIO President George Meany urged stronger enforcement of the Fair Labor Standards Act saying higher minimums tempt cheaters. He outlined a plan for a nationwide enforcement network to police compliance and press for federal action while noting many violations are settled with back wages. He cited 430,000 underpaid workers last year and called for expanded investigation powers as budgets rise and amendments cover 30 percent more workers and 60 percent more firms.
Titusville officials and local agencies weighed making the Centerville dam site part of Oil Creek watershed a multi purpose recreation area. A meeting with the Fish Commission Centerville and Athens Township is planned to discuss extra costs and loan arrangements tied to the $218 350 watershed project.
